We’ve Changed Our Look!- A Woefully Inadequate Intro to Web Marketing Psychology

If updates have been slow lately, it’s because we were trying to iron out the kinks as far as the blog’s new look goes, before it went live. We’ve tried to get as many of them and hopefully the ones that are still around are caught before they really embarrass us.

I could regale you about the heroic efforts of Roy, the tech/graphic design guy who made this all possible, but  we’ve got something better. We wouldn’t be doing our jobs right if we didn’t explain the rationale behind the changes. Basic Web Marketing and Color Psychology 101. We’ve decided to go with a predominantly white and red color palette  - a break from the white  and blue of the previous layout- and bazillions of other small business blogs out there.

Blue and green are colors traditionally associated with “business” in general. Blue in western culture signifies trust, and stability; green is associated with wealth. But we’ve realized that for the vast majority of our customers- microbusinesses and entrepreneurs – these things are less important than passion: the very idea we’re trying to evoke with red.  We hope to tap into your passions to encourage more interaction and perhaps receive more angry emails from you guys,

We also tried to make the content easier to read – this part is something we’ll probably keep tweaking over the next couple of days. One thing you might be interested in is the idea of  ”Font and Typeset Psychology”, of which several studies have been made- all of them directly related to how one presents one’s self and ideas. Y’know. Marketing and Branding. Thing we all should try to learn more about.

Lastly, we’ve changed the blog’s name to “The Art of Small Business“, to better reflect how we’ve been treating the subject in the past year. Because entrepreneurs are types that tend to really innovate at a very familiar level- making them artists in a very real sense.

Plus, if anyone’s going to use that name, might as well be me.
